Love Never Loved Me By Momiro (www)

Rebecca felt a yank at her arm as what sounded like Jill’s voice intruded her dreams and she immediately opened her eyes… everything a daze.

“Rebecca, come on!” cried the brunette, quickly pulling on her outfit and holstering her gun, all the while a phone to her ear.

The medic immediately got out of bed and wobbled over to the clothes, picking out her uniform and getting on her pants before she heard Jill shout and swung around.

“What!? There’s another!?” cried the B&E specialist as she ran to the window, Rebecca following suit.

There, in the sky… looked to be a missile as it shot through the air, breaking through the open, beautifully cloudless sky, before Rebecca took in a breath and it rammed straight into one of the many skyscrapers that stood erect in downtown Raccoon City, a cloud of something seeming to fall to the ground along with debris from the crash. It looked to be 9:30 in the morning and the ground was shaking as if an earthquake was happening.

Rebecca gasped, but Jill swore under her breath and threw on her beret, “I said get ready, Chambers!” cried the Officer, well, she was second in command after Barry.

The girl looked into Jill’s stern eyes with her confused ones and then ran to her bag and finished getting ready before grabbing her gun and holstering it as well. Jill has used her last name, she only did that when the women herself was only willing to except perfection in this sort of attack.

“I’m ready!-” but before the medic could finish Jill grabbed her wrist and dragged her out the door and pushed her into the passenger seat of her car and then slide over the hood of the vehicle and got in, ramming the key into the ignition and turning it.

The shear moment the engine roared to life, Jill drove it out of her driveway and slammed down the petal as they darted down the street… straight towards downtown.

Rebecca pulled out her pistol and an ammo clip; you never did like keeping her weapon loaded.

“What’s going on!?” she cried as they sped by houses, people rushing out of the their homes as to figure out where the sound of metal crippling metal mixed with the screams of innocent souls as coming from.

“Your guess is as good as mine, Rebecca” Jill said as she past 120 miles an hour on the speed gauge, the phone still glued to her ear the entire time. “Barry, we need to get that alert out… NOW! I just finished talking to Chris, they are getting ready to go… then suddenly the phone went dead and a piecing static came across the line, Jill yelled and dropped the phone, the cell closing as it hit the floor.

The medic put her hand against the window as she looked up into the sky, another missile heading straight for downtown. “Look, another… it’s coming in!” she shouted, point to it.

It seemed to be pointing down more then the other one… as if it was close to its target already and gaining speed as it went downwards.

Then, there was a sudden jerk and Rebecca slid over to where Jill was, neither of them had warn seat belts and the B&E specialist immediately shot her right hand out to keep Rebecca from falling on her as she turned a sharp corner, whizzing past cars, her teeth clenched.

Rebecca whimpered as she got back into balance and looked back up into air… the missile has disappeared somewhere.

“We’re almost there” snarled Jill, hitting 250 as the police station came within site.

Then, suddenly it seemed as if all hell broke loss for both of the two females as they came to a realization.

Rebecca was the first to see as they came a few yard hundred yards within distance of the precinct, “It’s aimed at the station!” she shouted as a missile seemed to come from nowhere out of clear sky and take a dive at the building.

Before Jill could hit the breaks, its speed matched that of the bullet train as it rammed into the last sanctuary and clear cut connection to the outside world. A pillar of flames and some sort of green smoke arose as they built up and atoms spilt…

First, there was silence for the two… then, a loud boom as Jill’s car was thrown back as debris was at high speeds in every direction, the car twisting in the super-sonic wind like a piece of paper.

Jill grabbed Rebecca’s hand as the two lifted from their seats, their eyes closing in unison as the vehicle took a violent degree. Their bodies being tossed around like rag dolls.

They held tight, but Jill felt Rebecca slipping and held tighter… but it wasn’t tight enough.

Rebecca’s palm left the safety of Jill’s hand and the B&E specialist heard the scream of the medic and the breaking of the already horribly cracked glass.

Jill screamed Rebecca’s name as her hand searched in vain, then, she felt a mysterious force hit her from what felt like every direction and blanked out… her throat going dry and all the blood that was in her veins shot to her brain.

Then everything went dark…

---------------------------------------

“Jillian Valentine, get up!” shouted a familiar bossy voice.

“Come on, how is that cut on her head?” asked the voice.

“It’s almost done, thank god we were this lucky…” spoke out another voice from the darkness, but the brunette knew who this was...

Immediately, Jill’s eyes shot open to see Claire kneeling over her, shaking her body which was flat on its back. “There you are, nice to see your back with us”.

The B&E specialist hadn’t realized it before, but right now, her ears were shell shocked from the blast and as sound began to enter her ears… gunshots and screams seemed to come from everywhere.

“Argh…” moaned the women as the feeling to her body began to return, “Where is Rebecca?”

“Right here!” said the medic; the girl’s face shot in front of Jill’s, scaring the women a bit.

“Rebecca… what are you doing…” she asked plainly.

“Giving you stitches, something really bad cut you on your forehead”.

“But, are you okay?” asked the B&E specialist.

“Yup, I’m good to go, a small arm and leg injury but it was only two flesh wounds involving glass and the road… and we’re done” said Rebecca as she pulled away.

“Come on; Chris, Leon and Barry are probably wondering where we are” said Claire, helping up Jill who wobbled a bit, but then got her balance.

Rebecca and Jill gave each other a quick hug before pulling out there pistols along with Claire, who had been holding hers the entire time.

“So… any updates?” the B&E specialist asked, shaking her head to wake up and then finally content that she was alert, looking at the flaming rubble that was once the precinct as they passed it.

“Umm… Rebecca, tell her” Claire said uneasily as they stopped at a corner and Claire spun around from the safety, her pistol at the ready before making sure the area was clear and waving to them to continue to follow.

“Tell me what?”

“Jill… there was another viral outbreak, and were right in the middle of it. Those missiles … they released some sort toxin on impact that, not only will blow anything in their way to pieces, the toxin is an advanced form of what we think is the T-Virus, because it only took people a few minutes before they were biting into each other.”

“Ya, and we have I.D.ed the guy that crashed your guy’s date, the results came back and hour before all hell broke loss to Barry. Get this; he was a former Umbrella employee… and in his blood stream WAS an advanced form the T-Virus. Though, we still have no ideas how he got that way OR where those missiles came from, OR how the hell they managed to create an advanced version of the virus” Claire finished.

Jill nodded, taking it all in… “But, where are the zombies?” she asked, thinking how stupid of a question that sounded.

“We don’t know… these ones Barry and Chris thinks are smarter then the original, but they still fell when I shot a bullet into their brain”.

“Has Barry called for help yet? Have the military and National Guard or whatever the hell started entering the city and blocking it off?” Jill asked again, turning a corner with the three girls as they ran down a vandalized alley, a dumpster set a flame.

“We’re almost at the evac point” spoke Claire aloud to all of them.

Rebecca grabbed Jill’s shoulder to get her attention, “We don’t know, after the first two missiles, we saw the second, some sort of communications scrambling device was shot onto the city from who knows where… Jill, everything is a blur but we do have police forces working through out the city, but we might as well be talking to them through a can and some string”.

“So… where are we going to go?”

“We have managed to find a ‘safe house’ where our temporary precinct is located… so, we are heading there next… though, if we get there and it’s deserted… don’t be surprised, all of the officers are out trying to help people.” Claire finished, waiting for something as they kept their pistols trained around the street they had come too.

“What are we waiting for?” asked Rebecca, getting a little anxious… trying to bottle up all of her fear and hide it away in her mind… though Jill seemed too out of it to even understand the situation.

Suddenly, a green van came speeding down the street and stopped, the side doors of it sliding open and Chris jumping out, aiming around. “Get in!” he shouted gruffly as everybody climbed inside the vehicle.

From what Rebecca could tell, the van seated seven people and Ashley and Leon were already in the back with Barry at the driver’s seat. Claire climbed into the back with them as Rebecca and Jill seated themselves in the middle two seats and Chris ran shut the door, running around to the other side of the van getting into the passenger seat.

Quickly, the van took off and sped down the streets of Raccoon City, everybody in the vehicle was silent as they headed toward wherever the safe house was.

Jill looked out the window of the van to see cannibalized bodies littering the streets as blood-red flames and smoke bellowed into the now dark sky… how could all of this happen all over again?

Rebecca thought the same thing as she put her head on Jill’s shoulder, breathing deeply, trying not to cry since Ashley was whimpering in the backseat… but everybody mentally agreed she could. The poor girl had already pushed through enough, they could tell Leon wanted her to get her feelings out enough so that she could focus on what now lied ahead… but as she cried, Claire noticed that she kept her eyes on the gun her husband had given her when they had first left the house… he had said for self defense incase he wasn’t there.

Both Claire and Chris had noticed with the sort visit over to the couple’s house that it was incomparably noble to how much Leon cared for Ashley. He was there for her, hand and foot… always with devotion… it really astounded Claire… and reminded her of Steve…

“Valentine, Chambers, Ms. Redfield… are you all okay?” called Barry from the driver’s seat, the three answering with a different form of yes.

“Good… we’re almost there, and I want all of you guys on mark, keep Ashley in the middle with Leon-”

“I’M NOT A FUCKING CHILD!” suddenly came a voice from the back… and everybody turned to see Ashley, her face bright red. “I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF!”

“Ash… Ashley, calm down” said Claire softly.

“Well, then stop treating me like I’m some fucking kid! I can take care of myself, if I survived Pueblo or whatever the hell that place was… I’ll be fucking damned if I can’t do this”.

Rebecca saw Chris about to say something but she caught him just in time and whispered; “She is a pregnant women who has lost her parents and has to go through this hell all over again just like the rest of us, but we’re more used to it… the training we went through and all. We need to give her time to calm down, and we are treating her like a kid, so don’t say anything and there won’t be anything” she quickly said, Chris nodded.

That’s what everybody seemed to like Chris, he got the message the first time… it was a talent of his which Claire often took abusive of when they got into one of the their little ‘Brother-Sister Battles’, but that was rare in itself anyway.

Leon tried his best to sooth Ashley, and it helped and she just went silent… Jill told Rebecca she thought it was a mood swing and the medic nodded.

Soon… they reached the safe house… or warehouse was more of suiting word, and a few police cruisers were outfit with a pair of officers patrolling the area.

The team quickly got out and headed inside through the rusted, red doors and down a narrow hallway composed of small barricades and one or two police. When they opened the last door… they came onto a cat-walk and looked down to saw a good few 100 people sitting around on bed, a few holding food and a few other getting medical attention… and a few crying.

“Welcome to the safe house team, go down the catwalk to the left and then go the stairs and you’ll reach the floor down there, that’s where the main refugee station is. I encourage you to walk around there a bit, you know, just to calm down a few of the people; they’ll feel safer knowing we’re here”.

“They’ll expect us to do the dirty work too…” mumbled Leon.

“Anyway… past that area you should find a door on the right wall which will lead into the police zone, that is we’re you guys will be bunking and getting ready. Now, I need to go see the chief, I’ll see you guys later” and with that Barry disappeared back into the narrow hallway.

Everybody looked at each other and Rebecca was the fist one to go downstairs, she felt she needed to help some of the other medical staff down there.

The rest of them followed and went to do their own thing, some walking around, and some going to the police barracks.

Though, one thought that lingered in Rebecca’ s mind was how safe the safe house was… she was scared, yes… but she was ever more scared when she wondered what was going on outside the buildings thin metal walls.
